Foundation workshop on AI Utilization for Leveraging Teaching and Scholarly Research

Abstract

In the evolving landscape of education and research, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as both a disruptor and an enabler, provoking a transformative era for pedagogical and scholarly practices. The rise of AI is introducing new possibilities and difficulties for teachers and academics. This workshop is tailored for novice and intermediate users, providing hands-on training on using AI tools and techniques for educational and research purposes. The workshop will investigate different ways to incorporate AI in academic activities, including searching and analyzing literature, as well as identifying and comparing gaps in research. Moreover, the workshop seeks to provide participants with the abilities needed to effectively present and illustrate data, improving the clarity and significance of research results. The workshop will mainly focus on exploring AI's role in customizing learning experiences. Participants will discover how to customize educational routes and evaluations to cater to the specific needs of learners, making progress towards creating adaptive learning settings. Additionally, the workshop will assist in the creation of visually enhanced educational materials that can be licensed, using AI to enhance resources. Acknowledging the varied aspects of AI, our workshop will also address the ethical considerations and potential constraints related to its application in academia. Critical conversations will explore the significance of moral considerations and thorough examination of AI tools, guaranteeing responsible use in education and research.

Created to encourage active learning, the workshop will include real-time showcases, hands-on activities, and group conversations, allowing for direct interaction with AI technology. This structure aims to promote both the sharing of ideas and collaborative learning among participants, not just provide information.
